Global Student Integrity Centre (GSIC) is a non-profit making organization in Nairobi, Kenya. The Centre was initiated with the goal of nurturing and transforming youths, particularly students, as they advance in various educational and career phases to be responsible citizens.
To achieve this, GSIC designed a Mentorship program for young individuals, to enhance personal development in their social, academic and career growth. This was in cognizance of the fact that regardless of whether leaders are born or made, it is impossible for the youth to be productive and responsible without mentoring and coaching.
Mentoring connects a young person to personal growth, development, social and economic opportunities. Mentorship, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations.
The Centre offers this program to allow young people to meet mentors from different professions and background with a strong belief that it will go along way not only in shaping the individual student but also our region.
GSIC provides an outline for identifying young people especially in learning Institutions from different parts of the world and bringing them together to enhance understanding of team dynamics and the environments’ role in influencing thought processes which ultimately lead to proper and effective decision making.
We believe that for a young person to be successful in life regardless of the situation and environment one has come from, there is one critical aspect that needs to be monitored and that is ATTITUDE. What attitude do young people have regarding diverse life matters? Is it positive or negative? How does it affect personal growth and development? These questions firmly endorse the importance of mentorship in a person’s life.
